I learned glass blowing at Chicago Hot Glass in 2006. After the class I took, I started renting time there. One day when I was fixing one of the yokes at the one of the benches, and Daniel said “you should just work here.” So I do. So far I have learned hot glass, fusing, and some torch bead making.
I’m a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism which studies early to medieval history through re-creation. And I’ve done a couple of weekends blowing glass at the Ohio Renaissance Fair with a friend of mine who got me interested in hot glass. Most of the work I do is patterned after shapes that I have researched to be of the period re-enacted in the SCA. Mostly I just do this for fun and to see what I can make.
